Yaletown’s ‘BBQues’ Brings Some Tasty Barbecue To LetsGoForDinner.com!
When I add new participating restaurants, I either get to try the food, or I don’t. In the case of BBQues in Yaletown, I got to eat. I might be a little biased because I already loved BBQ sandwiches, sweet and tangy sauces, ribs, and all the other good stuff, before I went to BBQues. These folks take pride in their homemade side dishes that go with the sandwiches, too. I dare you to try the maple-glazed cornbread!
The owner and I quickly chatted while we tore through a shared rack of ribs (yum). All of the sauces and marinades are homemade, which I think should be expected, but it’s still noteworthy. Then, Ben explained how he believes the vertical rotisserie is the beginning, and key, to getting his desired flavour. He explained that all meat starts there and get finished on the grill to achieve a balance of smoke and tenderness. You’re not going to get an argument out of me. I had a ‘Pulled Chicken Sandwich’ with 2 sides. I chose a strawberry and leafy based salad and ‘the cornbread’. It was great; it’s just my kind of food, loaded with flavour, and homemade.
This is an easy one to recommend if you’re looking for familiar, comforting, flavourful, barbecued food, where the owner is totally cool if you show up in flip flops. It hits the spot.
