Coast opens on Alberni

The Letsgofordinner team was invited to the brand new Coast restaurant on Alberni.  The food was spot on, especially upstairs in the sushi, oyster and shrimp bar.   The highlight of the hors d’oeuvres was the grilled tuna with wasabi; the tuna had a beef taste but was balanced by the gentle sting of the wasabi.  Having great seafood in not easy to accomplish normally, let alone with hundreds of people and the scale of the restaurant, but they pulled it off.  It takes quite an organization to do this and given what the team saw when construction was underway, Emad runs a very well trained group inside the restaurant.

The restaurant is huge and can be broken down into 4/5 main areas .  Upon entering  there is a huge circular bar dominating the entrance, on your right is a lounge area called the O Lounge with separate bar and two levels discrete and tastefully laid out in browns.  Back to the bar ahead of you and up, there is a balcony overlooking all the action, which in fact looks like the key dining area, lower down almost a brassiere style  dining area where customers can gaze at the chefs.  To the left of the bar is a lounge area that acts like a way station before going to the upper area. Its said that Emad has spent 3.3 million on this new seafood faring eatery and you can really see where the money went, the place has a restrained European Club feel.

Congratulations to the Glowbal team for a great evening and an exciting addition to Vancouver and for all the punters out there go it will be worth it.
